So it is a Monday – 1st day of the week, which most people dread. Work starts today again after a relaxing 2-day weekend. Like most people, I used to dread this day. But I know I needed to change my mindset to keep things positive the rest of the week. Weekends are usually spent with family, which entails a lot of eating out / family lunches which keep me off my diet regimen. Guilt starts to creep in. So to refresh my week, I treat this day as my DIET RESTART DAY.
By setting a day to restart, I condition my mind to commit to eating healthy and shy away from eating “unnecessary” food – the usual suspects – chips, bread & fries – mostly carbs. I try to simplify my life and usually give myself a target – 3 things that I need to COMPLY WITH daily. For example:
- Stop munching on unhealthy carbs – my chips, bread & fries are out!
- Drink 4 servings of water in my 700ml jug (That’s about 2.8L a day)
- Removing cream in my coffee – take it black or with a pack of Splenda (very tempting to pour a shot of milk)
I found that this strategy works well from me – especially if I was not a good girl over the weekend. My Monday restart helps me move on, forget the past – and continue my weight loss journey (I am targeting to lose 20 lbs more, i will be posting my journey in the following days).
