Earthfest 2012

Let’s celebrate Earthfest 2012! This event will be on November 18, 2012 (Sunday). The event starts at 5:00 AM and will be held at the Filinvest Corporate City, Alabang. The Earth Fest 2012 aims to raise awareness on actively participating in protecting Mother Earth and in the preservation of our environment.

This year’s theme is “Sports War Against Climate Change” so the event will have several sports events like running and cycling, as well as a Street Dance Battle Competition. After the events we will be having a concert for a cause and an awarding ceremony during the evening. All proceeds of the event will help in continuing the combined efforts of SMNI and Sonshine Philippines Movement (SPM)* in our fight against Climate Change, in several major Tree Planting Activities around the Philippines.

*About the organizers:

The Sonshine Philippines Movement or SPM, inspired by its founding president, Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, is a multi-awarded non-profit, non-stock, non-governmental organization whose projects range from clean-up drives, tree planting and disaster relief. Among some of the more notable projects of the SPM is the rehabilitation and replanting of the Ipo Dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan and a massive tree planting of thousands of pine trees in Tamayong, Calinan, Davao City (Mt. Apo). For more information about SPM’s environmental programs, visit www.spm.ph.

MILO Summer Sports Programs for Future Young Filipino Achievers

MILO once again makes summer the perfect time for active play with the MILO Summer Sports Clinics. With its goal to make children into champions, MILO ensures that the participants of its trusted sports programs not only get the training they need to become future world-class athletes but also the necessary values that they would need to succeed in life such as determination, commitment and teamwork.

Beginning April until the end of May, MILO will be opening its sports clinics in over 20 cities all over the Philippines. Kids ages 7 years old – 16 years old have 10 different sports to choose from: badminton, chess, football, gymnastics, karatedo, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, and volleyball. Every day, for 2 – 3 hours, each child will be enjoying their summer playing the sport that they love and learning to be the best person they can be.

“MILO goes beyond our role to develop a child’s physical growth,” said MILO Sports Executive Andrew Neri. “Instead, our sports clinics combine sports excellence with character-forming values that will hopefully lead to the maturity of well-rounded young adults.”

To improve on the quality of the MILO Summer Sports Clinics, MILO has centralized the locations to ensure that more children will have access to the best coaches and the most effective training methods for a wide range of sports.

For moms and dads who think children should remain busy and active over the summer vacation, getting children involved in sports would be a more enjoyable and productive alternative to hours of watching TV or playing computer and video games. “Summer sports activities are an excellent cure for the summer slack,” says Melanie Nicolas, corporate executive and mother of two. “I won’t have to worry about my children becoming overweight from lack of exercise, or growing bored from not having anything challenging to do.”

Parents who believe in giving their children the opportunity to learn new skills and over the summer can rest assured knowing that MILO Sports Clinics have a more systematic training regimen that are better catered to improving individual skills and sharpen values like discipline, fair play, self – control, and honesty.

Visit http://www.milo.com.ph or call (02) 353-5090, (02) 966-6333, and (0917) 589-9880 to register for any of the sports clinics this summer of 2012.

Kenji Kumagai Shihan Seminar 2010

“Aikido is not a technique to fight or defeat an enemy. It is the way to reconcile the world and make human beings one family.” – O-Sensei

This is nice. I always thought that anything that had to do with martial arts was for fighting or defeating another human being. I think this notion had to do with too much fascination over “Blood: the last Vampire” or “Ninja Assasin”. Apparently, the Kiryukan Dojo teaches you that Aikido is a way to make peace.

Aikido is a form of self defense practiced by an individual to strengthen mind, body, and spirit. If you want to learn more about this sport, they are holding the Kenji Kumagai Shihan Seminar 2010.
