I have heard of restorative yoga and hearing the term made me wonder what this style was about? Based on my research, this kind of yoga is a therapeutic style of yoga which utilizes props to make it easier for the body to get into certain poses, and eventually totally surrender to the pose. Practicing poses using props provides a complete support to the body therefore helping it to achieve total relaxation. Relaxation is a state in which there is no movement, no effort, and the brain is quiet. You hear every breath you take. Typically, Restorative poses are sustained for ten minutes or for as long as you are comfortable.
It’s called restorative yoga since the more the body is in the state of relaxation, the better equipped it is to fight stress, that can cause a lot of irregularities in the body’s functions.
