First of all, happy new year to everyone! 🙂 I’m sure all of you have already come up with your resolutions. Of course, once more, I will vow to be “healthier” this year.
I have an officemate that takes a teaspoon of honey every day. She says that this is good for the immune system. I recently received a pack from Manuka Health. It contained MGO Manuka Honey. I tried taking it for a week and during this short span of time, I already felt the difference.
The Manuka Honey comes in MGO 100+ (Php 1,100), MGO 250+ (Php 1,500), MGO 400+ (Php 1,900) and MGO 550+ (Php 2,600). The type of honey and the amount that you should take depends on the what benefit you want for yourself. If it is for maintenance, all you need to do is take 1 teaspoon of the honey (MGO 100+ will do) in one glass of water around 20 minutes before each meal. For those with heavy coughs, colds, flu, sore throats and stomach ulcers, you can use the MGO 550+ and take in 1 tablespoon in 1 glass of water or leave it in your mouth. Take this 4 times a day.
I just took the maintenance dosage and what I noticed was that I had regular bowel movement. Constipation is a problem in my family, and I think taking the honey helped. What I like about it is that it is made from natural ingredients. It comes from Manuka bush which grows wild in the pristine, remote areas of New Zealand.
I also got to try the Propolis suckles BIO30. I got to try the peppermint flavor. I’m not a fan of the taste, but these candy like medicinal suckles are good for those with sore throats. I think the honey variant would taste better (although I haven’t tried them). Each box is at Php 250. I have not tried this though for sore throat, but I will take it when I do get one.
A lot of people have tried MGO Manuka Honey and have swore by its benefits. New Zealand Manuka honey is the only 100% natural food in the world shown to have effective and reliable antibacterial activity. With this, the MGO Manuka Honey is used for:
– general well being
– oral care (cough, colds and flu)
– Gastro-intestinal problems (stomach ulcers)
– Wound care (skin ulcers, boils, wounds, sores, etc.)
– Stable and effective antibacterial activity
– Combats infections and MRSA, a strain of bacteria resistant to some of the world’s most powerful antibiotics available
Propolis, on the other hand, is a pleasant, sweet smelling mixture gathered by honeybees from resins collected from the bark and sticky buds of New Zealand trees and plants. Brought back to the hive and mixed with bees wax and secreted enzymes, propolis is then used to sterilise the hive and protect it against infection.
