Looking Forward to the Next 2 Weeks

I am looking forward to this next two weeks of going back to my South Beach diet again. I was so inspired by my friend who lost weight doing the Cohen’s diet. She started at 178 pounds and is now down to 118 pounds. How cool is that? I asked her and the niece of my godmother to write guest posts here. Hopefully they agree to do it so that we can learn from what they have undergone.

So just to give you a bird’s eye view of what I plan to achieve in a month’s time. I am actually getting ready for a summer outing for my grandmother’s birthday on August 4. Not that I plan to wear a bikini in front of my family (no way, jose!) But I plan to look my best in whatever outfit I plan to wear on that day. My husband does not get it. He does not get that we girls love to plan attires and ‘looking hot’ even if it’s in front of relatives, whom you normally get to see anyway.

So what is my plan for the next few weeks? First, to again go on the South Beach diet. Luckily, our helper is trained to prepare dishes for us. She was trained under 25 Mushroom’s kitchen (they hold classes in valle verde 5 for household help). Here is the facebook page! (25 Mushrooms Kitchen).

During my first round on the South Beach diet, I lost from 139 pounds to 132-133 pounds. The weight loss was actually noticeable. I got a lot of comments that I was losing weight. Here is a picture of my weight tracking app / weight loss app:

I gained weight today, since we experimented on the ‘griller’ last night and I attempted to cook steak!

He started with a weight of 199 pounds and dropped to 185 pounds!

So I am pretty excited to lose more weight for this round. My base weight is at 133 pounds. I plan to bring this down to 125 pounds in two weeks :) I think I will need to change my wardrobe already by then.

In these two weeks, I plan to run at least three times a week on the treadmill. My diet will end on June 24. My Sexy Revolution Starts Now: Last 10 Pounds

I woke up this morning, and weighed myself. To my despair, I was still 131 pounds. At 5’4″, people actually don’t think i’m fat. I’m a regular looking girl, not that petite. Just plain and regular. Last month, I went on a South Beach diet, and yes, it worked. I didn’t have a hard time, and this, is not a lie. I would give you that BS and all that drama of complaining that following the diet was hard, because it wasn’t.

I guess it was easy for me because….
1) my Super-south-Beach-trained yaya (household helper of mom) prepared the meals for me. Yes, if you have read my previous posts, you will know where she trained.
2) I am so busy always that I don’t have time to complain
3) I had the support of my husband, since he, himself was coerced (by ME of course :p hehe) to go on the same diet

I successfully lost 8 pounds, and it was highly rewarding. I loved it wheneople noticed this weight loss. This week, i started with a base weight of 133pounds after resting for two weeks after my first round, but it seems, my weight is stuck at 131 :( boo!

I want to achieve a weight of 120 pounds and be as sexy as Georgina Wilson in this ad.

South Beach Diet – Day 7 (One week)

Yipee! I lost 5 pounds in a span of one week! I’m already at 134 pounds. I started with a weight of 139 pounds. Not bad, right? I think the South Beach is diet that you can actually maintain. I was fortunate enough to have a cook at home who can just our meals for us. A lot of friends and family of friends order from different companies who deliver to their homes the dishes for each day. I think it costs them around Php 600-Php 800 pesos per day.

Just some general observations in this one week that I was on this diet:
1. Don’t forget to drink a lot of water. I noticed that I get full with water so I don’t crave that much for food. This is very important, so that you can flush out the fats and help you to prevent constipation.
2. The food was actually good. I feel full after breakfast, lunch and dinner. I just feel sad sometimes that I can’t eat junk food, but it was worth the sacrifice.
3. If you are hungry between meals, you can take peanuts.
4. I noticed that I was weaker than usual, so I took time to ‘just’ walk and let go of running at least for this week.
5. Stay with a group that can offer motivation and support. It helps to be with people who are also going on a diet.

That’s it! I plan to continue this diet for 1 more week. Let us see if I can break the 130 pounds barrier. :)

South Beach Diet – Day 5

It’s a Saturday. Sorry, guys, but I forgot to weigh today. I woke up at 2:45 am in the morning since I was an organizer for our Company’s run. I was already supposed to be at Ultra in a few minutes. I woke up and I was still groggy, so I forgot to do my usual routine.

Anyway, my morning went well. The run was super fun. I didn’t get to join, but I do plan to join next year (hopefully by then, I won’t be in this diet). I didn’t feel hungry at any time during the event. I think it was the adrenaline and the anticipation :) I also was enjoying myself, so I guess, it didn’t occur to me that my last meal was at 7:30 in the evening.

I got to go home at around 8:30am. As usual, breakfast was delicious. Check this out!

Again, it was primarily made out of egg, but today, the circular looking omelette had brocolli and cheese in it. The consistency was like souffle — it was light and fluffy. I even like that some of the part were crispy (unusual and weird!).

I was so tired that I slept again after breakfast. I woke up at 11, just before lunchtime. I got to eat lunch at 12:30 pm. Lunch was this:

The main ‘meat’ in this was shrimp. It was mixed with red bell peppers and onions. The dish had a hint of sweetness and I actually found this dish appetizing. I loved the sauce. I wanted to take in even the sauce, but it was already mixed with oil.

In the evening, I had chicken with mushrooms. The sauce was white and creamy. I don’t know though, what the ingredients our household help used for this. It tasted like well cooked chicken dipped in carbonara sauce.

Oh, by the way, in between meals, I just had the less grease peanuts by Growers. Well, we will see what that effect of this will be on Monday. Monday will be Day 7 (one week) of my South Beach Diet.

South Beach Diet: Day 3

It’s a Thursday and there are two reasons to be happy. One is that tomorrow’s a Friday and the other reason is that I have lost 3 pounds already. Weight check: 136.6. But, of course, I need to keep this weight down and continue this diet. It may have just been water weight. We’ll never know until I get to maintain it for at least two weeks.

With this south Beach Diet, I expect to lose a few more pounds. Don’t worry friends, I plan to do it just for two weeks.

Okay, so for my food for today, I was given egg omelet with mushrooms, spinach and shrimp as filling. I was again so delicious. With the food choices given to me, I don’t really feel as if I was deprived of anything. I only get to feel deprived in between meals. When people are out snacking, I take a pack of peanuts, and that’s what I munch on.

For lunch, guess what? I had super good and tender beef cubes. I had around three cubes. I ate it with the delicious salad with a sweet-but-a-bit-sour sauce. It was also delish! For dinner, I had salmon cakes. Check this out!

i wasn’t as light headed anymore as I was on the first day. Although, at times, I still feel the craving for junk food. I hope to lose more weight in the coming days. See you on Sunday for my Saturday review! :)

It’s summer once again and I can feel people become more serious about weight loss than ever before. I know of friends who starve themselves during this season. Lipo-sculpt Cavitation: Nonsurgical way to Lose Inches

As I am constantly looking for ways to help women look good and feel good about themselves, I jumped at this opportunity to review a method of losing inches without any surgery. It’s called Lipo-sculpt cavitation. Although it has been in existence for almost two years now, not a lot of people know about it nor have the guts to try it. It was 1:00 pm, a Saturday, when I got to the doctor’s clinic. I had to fill up a form, as I had no records in her clinic. The secretary was very pleasant. I asked her about the cavitation procedure, and she said that some of the patients, on their fourth visit had a very noticeable change already. With that statement, I was excited to try this out.

Finally, at 2:00 pm, the doctor called me in. She explained the procedure, and she was very thorough in explaining what Liposculpt Cavitation was. This is a non-surgical treatment where a machine, which is used to massage the chosen area, emits pulsating or continuous ultrasound waves. The machine is rotated and pushed against the skin (in my case, I chose my tummy area). The ultrasound waves target the stored fats/subcutaneous fats (under the skin) and causes them to burst. After the fat cells are broken down, they are eliminated out of the body through the lymphatic system. Your body will then remove the fat cells naturally out of your body.

While she was explaining, her assistant was drawing lines in my body and measuring me at the same time. The lines are to avoid hitting the bones in the ribcage area and the spinal cord. I was asked then to lie down, and the device was then rubbed against my tummy.

Now, how did it feel. You will hear “laser beam” like sounds and the funny thing was, you are the only one who will hear it. No one else in the room will! It was pretty cool and weird at the same time. These were high pitched sounds. Dra. Batac said these where the sounds made when the waves hit the cells.

Also, the device that touches your skin was a bit warm. The temperature was not distracting. After I was done, the doctor told me to hug my legs, to flush out the fats move it to the lymphatic system.

A normal procedure lasts 40 minutes at the most. The doctor advices to take the treatment just 1x a week. I read though that 2x a week is also safe, but she wants to stay on the safe side. There hasn’t been any conclusive studies yet, but no side effects are reported. In my case, I didn’t experience any side effect. I didn’t feel nauseous or anything like that. The doctor though stressed that a trained doctor or nurse should do this treatment, because there is a certain frequency of the waves that can be used so as not to be harmful to humans.

A treatment ranges from as low as Php 1000 – 3,000 per area per session. She also advices that the maximum number of parts per session would be one central (meaning the tummy area or back) and one peripheral (either the legs or arms or thighs). It cannot be all of these areas.

So what were the results? After 20 minutes of rubbing on the tummy area, I lost a total of 2-4 cm! I don’t know if this amazing for you, but I guess it was pretty impressive for me.

Healthy Cravings Diet

I just finished my Healthy Cravings Diet yesterday. I lost 5 pounds in a span of 2 weeks. This isn’t actually bad for me. After my miscarriage and pregnancy complications last May 2010, I have been asked by my doctor to stop exercising first so that I could heal.

This January, I was already allowed by my doctor to workout and get back into the same fitness level that I had before. I weighed myself last January 3. By the way, I am 5’4″ in height, just in case you’d like to know. I was 141 pounds with a body fat percentage of 33.9%. I weighed myself this morning and I was 136.6, with a body fat percentage of 32.2%.

The only physical activity I had these couple of days was practicing Ashtanga yoga again (for the first time since October 2009). This was last Tuesday, January 11, and thrice a week Xbox Kinect activities (Dance Central).

There is no set formula available to inform people about the correct amount of water they should drink as they drink water each day. All scientists and medical professionals can tell us for certain is to drink water often in order to properly hydrate our bodies.

The amount of water contained in an individual body fluctuates daily through the processes of breathing, perspiration, and normal excretion of body waste.

A person needs to purposefully drink water daily in an adequate amount just to replace the water being used and secreted from the body during its normal functioning. This approach is considered the replacement approach.

Another common recommendation is to drink water at the rate of 8-8 oz. glasses per day. That has long been the suggested standard for persons wishing to drink water at a rate known to be healthy.

Regardless of the target amount chosen each day, it is important to drink water to keep the body healthy and functioning properly. In addition to improving the skin and keeping the body’s systems, it is a delicious, refreshing thirst quenching delight on a hot summer day!
